These commitments form the foundation of my campaign — a clear, actionable plan for serving our community with integrity and purpose.
Our seniors deserve dignity, connection, and access to services, no matter where they live. I will look for opportunities to expand and fund accessible senior programs, with a focus on rural areas that have been underserved for far too long. I will also work to encourage building practices that focus on building multi-generational homes to make it easier for families to care for their parents & grandparents at home.
Our youth need more opportunities to participate, grow, and lead. I will work to expand youth engagement initiatives by building stronger partnerships with local sports groups, community organizations, and volunteer programs. I have already demonstrated this approach can succeed, and I am confident it can be scaled into a broader program that gives young people more ways to get involved, develop skills, and contribute to our community.
Volunteers are the backbone of Halton Hills. I will focus on strengthening collaborative opportunities and supporting programs that recognize, encourage, and empower the people who give their time to our community. Without volunteers, many of the services, events, and organizations we rely on simply would not function. I have already seen local groups come together around shared goals, and we can make our community even stronger by building on these partnerships.
Outdoor recreation is part of our identity, and our trail network should reflect that. I will bring forward proposals to improve trail maintenance, create better access points, and support new trail development that encourages healthy living, connects residents with nature, and strengthens local tourism. This work should be informed by successful examples from other communities, including the Rock Cut Trails system in Twillingate Newfoundland, which have grown into a well-maintained coastal trail system that supports recreation, tourism, and community pride.
Our farms, homesteads, and rural attractions are the heart of Halton Hills. I will work to promote rural businesses, increase visibility, and drive more visitors to the people who keep our agricultural community thriving.
As a beekeeper, I understand how delicate our natural balance is. I will be a strong advocate for conservation, green spaces, and farmland protection to ensure Ward 2 & Halton Hills remains a place where nature thrives.
Too often, we spend today's dollars solving yesterday's problems. I will champion forward-thinking planning that considers tomorrow's needs—ensuring our investments benefit future generations.
Over development is putting pressure on the character of our community. I support responsible development standards that reflect the needs of residents and neighbourhoods — including appropriate lot sizes, practical driveway space for today's households, and planning decisions that prioritize livability over simply maximizing builder profit. I will also advocate for senior-centred planning so that older residents can continue to live comfortably, safely, and independently in the community they helped build.
Starting a business should not require months of red tape. I will work to streamline the approval process so that applications meeting the necessary requirements are handled within weeks, not months. Halton Hills must support entrepreneurs, not deter them, and we can start by removing layers of redundant bureaucracy that hinder responsible investment and local job creation.
When industry wants to make Halton Hills its home, we need to support that ambition with timely approvals, clear processes, and a commitment to reducing unnecessary red tape. Commercial and industrial development can bring much-needed jobs closer to home, strengthen our local tax base, and create new opportunities for residents. Halton Hills should actively attract, support, and cooperate with responsible developers who are ready to invest in our community and help build a stronger local economy.
