If you haven't met Daniel yet, his story is the best place to start. Get to know the family, work, service, and community roots that have shaped who he is — and why he is stepping forward to serve Halton Hills.
For nearly three decades, Daniel has built his life, family, and sense of belonging in Halton Hills. What began as a young couple putting down roots has grown into a lasting commitment to the people, organizations, and landscapes that make this community special. His story is one of steady service—sometimes visible, often quiet—guided by the belief that strong communities are built by people who are willing to show up, lend a hand, and take responsibility for the place they call home.
Daniel's family remains the anchor of his life. Married to his high-school sweetheart for 17 years, he and his wife are raising two children in the same community that shaped them. After 28 years in Halton Hills, his connection to the region is both personal and generational. His ongoing involvement with the Knights of Columbus has further strengthened his commitment to charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism—values he strives to live out with humility and consistency.
Daniel's involvement in Halton Hills began on the playing fields and ice rinks where so many local families spend their evenings and weekends. Over the past decade, he has coached with the Georgetown Soccer Club, helping young athletes build confidence, teamwork, and resilience. He also supported youth hockey players through their early development with Halton Hills Thunder. At the Acton Curling Club, he became an instructor for the Little Rocks program, introducing children to curling and helping create a welcoming environment for families discovering the sport for the first time. He has also volunteered many hours with youth organizations and events, including the First Shift Hockey Program, semi-competitive youth bonspiels, and school-related activities, using his time as a coach and mentor to encourage skill development, sportsmanship, and confidence in young athletes.
His commitment to service extends beyond sports. For eight years, Daniel has served as an Executive Board Member with the Knights of Columbus at Holy Cross Parish, contributing to charitable initiatives, parish events, and community outreach. He has also served as Executive-at-Large on the Acton Curling Club board, offering his time and perspective in support of the club. As Co-Chair of the organizing committee for the Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament, he helped raise funds for Special Olympics, the Bob Rumball Foundation, and Community Living Halton Hills—organizations that strengthen the fabric of the region. He organized the Holy Cross Parish Family Curling Day and continues to assist with other Parish events. Over the years, he has helped organize, volunteer for, and participate in numerous fundraising efforts for organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Georgetown Breadbasket, the UHN Foundation Lung Transplant Program, and many other local and broader community groups. In each case, his goal has remained the same: to support the people and programs that help make Halton Hills a caring and connected community.
Daniel also carries a deep understanding of the challenges faced by seniors and those living with mental-health concerns. Through personal experience and community involvement, he has seen how dignity, compassion, and accessible support can make a meaningful difference in people's lives. He believes strongly in programs that help seniors remain active, connected, and respected within their communities. This cause is close to his heart and continues to guide his involvement in local initiatives.
Daniel has built a broad network of professionals he can turn to for insight across many fields. He has never hesitated to ask for help when needed and actively seeks knowledge when faced with questions he cannot yet answer. Collaboration is central to his approach. He believes that bringing people together often leads to stronger solutions and more effective outcomes.
He is focused on the work before him and believes in doing what can be done today rather than putting it off until tomorrow. When someone needs help, he steps forward. Throughout his life, he has shown that people matter more to him than titles or recognition. His goal in society is simple: to be remembered for making a difference — whether that difference is small or significant. Both matter. But in nature, his goal is the opposite: to be forgotten. To move quietly, leave no trace, and pass through the land with respect.
Daniel's connection to the land runs just as deep. As a registered beekeeper with OMAFRA and a member of both the Ontario Beekeepers' Association and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, he understands the delicate balance between agriculture, conservation, and responsible land use. His work with bees has given him a firsthand appreciation for the natural systems that sustain rural communities, as well as the importance of protecting green spaces, farmland, and local ecosystems.
Professionally, Daniel brings a strong foundation in business leadership and operational management. He has run several businesses, gaining experience in entrepreneurship, financial stewardship, and long-term planning. His background includes work in unionized environments, operations management, and sales. He is also a tourism owner-operator registered with the Newfoundland Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation. Through his businesses and networks, Daniel has sponsored and helped secure sponsorships for local hockey and soccer teams, competitive curling teams, golf tournaments, and other community efforts—reinvesting directly into the community that has supported him.
Together, these experiences have shaped Daniel's approach to leadership: practical, community-minded, and rooted in respect for the people, businesses, farmland, and natural spaces that make rural Halton Hills worth protecting.
Across all of these roles — family man, coach, volunteer, beekeeper, business owner, board member, and neighbour — Daniel has remained a steady presence in Halton Hills. Some of his contributions are public; many are behind the scenes. Year after year, he has dedicated his time to strengthening the community he loves. His work reflects a simple belief: when people invest in their community, the community becomes stronger for everyone.
